Getting Braids in Spokane? What to Know Before You Buy Your Hair
One of the first questions people ask when planning a braided hairstyle is, “How many packs of hair do I need?”
The answer depends on the look you want, the hair you choose and how much comes in the package.
Here are examples of my own braiding work, along with the quantities I used. These give you a starting point for talking with your stylist before you shop.
Colorful Braids: Two Kids’ Packs

For this colorful braided style, I used two kids’ packs of Amore Kids pre-stretched braiding hair.
Think about where you want the color to show when choosing your hair. A few colorful braids mixed with black hair can create a different look from color throughout the whole style.
Bring your stylist a picture and discuss the braid pattern, length, color placement and curled finish you want.
Black and Color Together: Two Packs Per Girl

For these looks, I used two packs of braiding hair for each girl: one color pack and one pack of 1B (black).
That means two packs per girl—not two packs shared between them.
Mixing black and colorful hair is one way to personalize a style. Before buying, ask your stylist how much of each color you need and whether the hair you’ve selected will work for your inspiration photo.
A Braided Updo: One Bundle Per Daughter

For this style, I used 12-inch EZ Braid Kids Spectra hair & Drawstring Ponytail
The package I used contained two bundles. I used one bundle for each daughter, so one package supplied both styles.
This is why it helps to look at what’s inside the package—not just count the packages on the shelf
The front and back views show how the braid pattern and curled finish come together. When showing a style to your braider, pictures from more than one angle can help explain the look you want.
Use These Quantities as Examples
These are the amounts I used for the hairstyles pictured. Your stylist may recommend a different quantity for your appointment.
Before shopping, confirm:
- The exact hair brand and product
- The package length
- Your color choices
- The number of packages or bundles needed
- Whether separate hair is needed for curls
- Which styling products your stylist provides
A picture of the recommended package can make shopping easier, especially when several products have similar names.
